Restorative-Focused Therapy

Chapter 1 discussed in the rationale for this research: the depressing effect of lack of discipleshipand mentorship training and how it has increased disappointment, joylessness, and peace-lessness among Christians. Unfortunately, that keeps hospital beds packed up. Yes! The Bible did not hide the truth from us; 1 Timothy 2:3–4 says that it “pleases God our Savior, who wantsall people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.”

McMinn, a great psychologist, and counselor shares that the role of theologicalmentorship must include the understanding that “the mechanism for change is grace . . .empowering grace is redemptive.”7 Changing the heart, which is the seat of the soul, and curingthe soul is what helps. Modifying behaviors without changing the heart does not. A directive,action-oriented and scriptural rooted, mentoring philosophy, purposed to change the heart—theseat of the soul, care for the soul, not just a mere behavioral modification or alteration.
